Next Monday marks 20 years since Kip Kinkel - a high school student in Springfield -- opened fire on his classmates. Two students were killed, and twenty-five others were wounded. Adding to the death toll was Kinkel’s parents, both shot dead by their son the night before. The Thurston High incident was one of the earliest modern-day school shootings, preceding Columbine by nearly a year. KLCC’s Brian Bull revisits the tragedy.
It’s been a busy day along Highway 97 near Tonasket, Washington, as trucks haul sand and sandbags to communities that could be affected by extreme flooding along the Okanogan River. The river first crested last Saturday. But residents are bracing for more.
