Drivers should notice more traffic officers on the road. The campaign provides *federal funding for overtime allowing officers to join together and offer high-visibility enforcement. There's a public forum Thursday evening for people to voice their concerns.<br /><br />The Police Commission is drafting a policy on bias-based policing policy. At the same time EPD is developing new methods for collecting data on contact between police and the public. Carter Hawley is a Management Analyst for the Eugene Police Department. She says there's a perception that bias based on race, gender, age or other factors plays a role in police activity. Now there is a new partnership, led by student interns.</p><p><br />Sergeant Lisa Barong is with the EPD crime prevention unit:<br />Barong: "Our local college students are victims of property crime at a much higher rate than most of the citizens in our community."<br />Last school year, the police worked with a public relations class at the U of O.
