Music, Arts & Culture Host

Eric Alan is KLCC’s music, arts and culture host. The music performances he hosts on KLCC air during Q; his interviews and features air during The Takeaway, The World and other programs. He joined KLCC in 2010 as a host of the music program Fresh Tracks. He then became the host of the music, arts and culture program Living Large, which brought 800 performances and interviews to the airwaves in 2011-2013. In 2014, he was awarded second place in the "Best Interview" category for his story "Vietnam: An Inner View" at the national convention of the Public Radio News Directors, Incorporated in Washington, DC. Previously, he spent seventeen years at Jefferson Public Radio in Ashland, where he was music director and host of the daily music show Open Air; he also served there as editor and primary feature writer for The Jefferson Monthly magazine, Morning Edition host and producer of The Questing Feast (a food show). He is a nationally published author and photographer with three books to his credit, ranging from nature spirituality to major league baseball. He also works with National Geographic photographer Dewitt Jones, regularly contributing words and photographs to the project “Celebrate What’s Right with the World.” He is an accomplished lyricist as well, with credits ranging from international recording artists Gypsy Soul to the Oregon Cabaret Theatre.

Saxophonist, vocalist and songwriter Grace Kelly has already had a very accomplished career. She’s released eight albums, and played with a range of jazz luminaries from Dave Brubeck to Wynton Marsalis and Harry Connick Jr. Now, at the age of 21, her new album Live at Scullers is her most vocally-oriented release, and finds her stretching more beyond jazz. Before performing at the Jaqua Concert Hall in Eugene, she joined Eric Alan in the KLCC studios for music and conversation.

He celebrates the release of his book, Humor at the Speed of Life, with a roasting at the Florence Playhouse on February 28th. He speaks with Eric Alan about the Winter Olympics, the Academy Awards, and how blowing things out of proportion helps give perspective.

Artisan fire pits at last year's Oregon Winterfest

The annual Oregon Winterfest will be held in the Old Mill District of Bend this weekend, from Friday February 14th through Sunday, February 16th. It includes three days of winter-themed events, from a rail jam for snowboarders and skiers, to snow warrior races, artisan fire pits, music, food, and more. Sol Seed, Live at KLCC

Sol Seed will bring their positive mix of reggae, rock, hip hop and more to the KLCC MicroBrew Festival at the Lane Events Center in Eugene Friday night, February 7th at 7:30. They’ve been voted the Best Band in Eugene two years in a row in the annual Eugene Weekly Readers Poll, as well as winning the Weekly’s “Next Big Thing” contest this year.
