Gayle Chisholm has been KLCC's Marketing Director since 1986.  She took on the role of Webmaster when KLCC launched its first website in 1996, and has overseen klcc.org through its 4th generation site which launched in the fall of 2013.  Gayle is also co-coordinator of the KLCC Microbrew Festival, held in Eugene every February.

After 32 years, KLCC's beloved Music Director Michael Canning is hanging up his microphone.  Michael's last day at KLCC is February 29, 2016. 

With his retirement KLCC says goodbye to one of the most recognizable and melodic voices on our air.  A voice that will be missed by staff and listeners far and wide.

The UO School of Journalism and Communication (SOJC) recently held a forum in Portland to help Oregonians prepare for "the big one." The SOJC’s “Don’t Wait for the Quake” event, hosted in partnership with OPB, convened a timely conversation about earthquake preparedness in Oregon.

As a catalyst for conversation, the forum featured five videos produced by SOJC Allen Hall Studios undergraduate students, each with its own angle on earthquake preparedness and recovery:

The program covers gratitude in the workplace, in relationships, in health, in child-rearing, etc. It is hosted by Academy Award winning actress, Susan Sarandon, and produced by Peabody award winning BMPAudio.

Fall Goal Reached in Record Time with Innovative Approach

Goal of $250,000 was reached at 10:30 am on October 6 !!

KLCC reached its Fall Fundraising Goal of $250,000 in the shortest amount of time in station history.  A three week "Stealth Drive" brought in 90% of the goal, and a four hour Radiothon finished the job.  The goal was reached at 10:30 a.m. on October 6.

Oakshire Brewing will give $1 to KLCC for every pint sold at their pub on Wednesday, September 16. 

Visit Oakshire at 207 Madison Street in Eugene from 11 am to 10 pm, and support KLCC with every pint!

KLCC staff will be on hand from 5-7 pm.  See you there!

KLCC Seeks News Host

KLCC has opened an applicant pool for a part time News Host, primarily for weekends.

The position will serve as a relief host for KLCC’s broadcasts of NPR’s Weekend Edition.  The hours will be minimal, but the opportunity to advance your skills in public radio maximal.

Musical icon B.B. King passed away on May 14. To honor his memory KLCC is proud to present a re-broadcast of a 2005 radio special hosted by Keb' Mo', celebrating B.B. King's 80th Birthday. 

KLCC will air the special at Noon on Saturday May 16 during Blues Power.

Reveal, the occasional collaboration brought to you by The Center for Investigative Reporting and PRX, is back in May for another episode. 

This month's episode, Power Struggle: The Perilous Price of America’s Energy Boom, will air on KLCC Tuesday, June 23 at 6:30 pm.

Q  is a lively arts, culture and entertainment magazine from Canada, providing a smart and surprising tour through personalities and cultural issues that matter.  Q covers pop culture and high arts with forays into the most provocative and compelling cultural trends.

After 25 years on the air, volunteer host Frank Gosar is leaving Saturday Cafe and KLCC.

Tonight,  January 20, President Obama will deliver his State of the Union address starting at 6 pm.  

NPR will provide live anchored coverage of the President’s speech as well as the Republican response from Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa.

Robert Siegel will host. He'll be joined in the studio by White House Correspondent Tamara Keith, National Political Correspondent Mara Liasson and Senior Washington Editor Ron Elving. NPR’s Ailsa Chang will report live from the House chamber.

KLCC coverage of the speech and analysis will conclude at 8 pm.

  

 11/19/14 - KLCC has lost one of our family today. Natural World producer John Cooney has died.

His family says, "John left us this morning with a taste of wine and a smile on his lips."

John had lung cancer. He was at home surrounded by family. A memorial service is being planned.

 

Changes at Q

KLCC learned on Sunday, October 26 that the CBC has ended its relationship with Jian Ghomeshi, host of the program “Q.”  CBC will continue to produce the program with substitute hosts until a new host is brought on board. 

The Q website posted this information about the Future of Q

KLCC will continue to air the program until further notice.
