Overcast skies and above freezing temps near 40 degrees mark today’s Eugene-area weather, according to the National Weather Service.

Meteorologist Matthew Cullen says then there’s another cold snap starting Thursday night.

“Our low temperature forecast for Friday morning is right around 22 degrees for Eugene," says Cullen.  "So quite cold.  Friday night into Saturday, looks even colder, around 19.  So that’ll stay cold, but we will be dry on Friday.

"So no precipitation, just some very cold air in place.”

Home owners are advised to check on their water pipes and either shut them off or insulate them if exposed to below-freezing temps.

Beginning Sunday, things warm up, with temperatures moving into the upper 30s and lower 40s through Tuesday.
