Place-making expert and John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Vice President Carol Coletta will speak about talent, opportunity and place—three key components to any thriving community.
Coletta, who joined the Knight Foundation in 2013, is an expert on the development of cities. She was the Director of ArtPlace, a unique public-private collaboration to accelerate creative place-making in communities across the United States, and she was also President and CEO of CEOs for Cities, a national network of urban leaders. She has served as Executive Director of the Mayors’ Institute on City Design, and also ran a Memphis-based public affairs consulting firm, Coletta & Company, focused on civic issues. She has written and spoken extensively on the future of cities, including how communities develop, attract and retain talent.
This free public lecture program is a grassroots, volunteer-led effort by the AIA-SWO Design Excellence Committee in partnership with City Club of Eugene and the UO School of Architecture & Allied Arts.
In an effort to share the design profession’s most prestigious awards program with the broader community, the AIA-SWO will reveal the winners of the 2014 AIA-SWO Design Awards immediately following the Design Excellence Lecture.
