Area Ski Resorts Start to Open

Mount Bachelor's Sunshine Accelerator lift is open. If mother nature behaves, the majority of lifts will be running by Wednesday.

The snow at Bachelor isn't quite deep enough for skiing or snowboarding, but there's enough for a special holiday terrain park.

Mount Bachelor has 15 inches of snow both at its base and mid-mountain. According to Spencer Weimar, Director of Sales at Bachelor, the prognosis for this season isn't bad.

Weimar [:11] "You never know with the weather, but right now, the reports we're reading are talking about average. And, if we get average, that would almost double the snowfall we got last year. So, in our minds, that would be a great winter."

Hoodoo Ski Area currently has just under 3 inches of snow and along with Willamette Pass, will most likely not open until after Thanksgiving weekend. Hoodoo didn't open until December 31st last season and managed to stay open for just the first two weekends of the new year before closing.
