Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders will be in Springfield Thursday. He’ll be at Island Park for a noon rally.
Sanders has been to Portland a couple of times during his campaign, drawing large crowds.
University of Oregon student Xander Berenstein is a Sanders supporter. He says it makes sense that the candidate would come here.
Berenstein: “Given the fact that Oregon is so progressive. And actually Bernie Sander’s son Levi Sanders is a U of O alum. So yeah we were expecting, at least I personally was expecting Bernie Sanders to come here, the question just was when.”
The campaign says Sanders will discuss a range of issues including getting big money out of politics and making public colleges and universities tuition free. The event is free and open to the public.
