On the heels of the Paris attacks, many people are feeling nervous about attending large events. We checked in with the University of Oregon's Department of Public Safety.
The U.O. regularly hosts some of Eugene's largest events, from football games to concerts. So, has the university's approach to security changed in light of recent events? No, says Kelly McIver, spokesman for the U.O. Police Department.
McIver: "We always have a high presence of security here on campus. We actually also benefit from communicating extremely well around the university and with our partners locally and regionally. So, we're really making advantage of the best information we have and the best planning and response we can do."
McIver says if you're attending a university event, be patient with bag searches and plan to arrive as early as possible because security lines can be long.
