City Club of Eugene: Food for Lane County Youth Farm

Food for Lane County

Recorded On: May 4, 2018

Air Date: May 7, 2018

This week the City Club of Eugene welcomes program managers and a participant from the Lane County Youth Farm. The Lane County Youth Farm is a 5-acre urban educational, food-producing farm and a work experience site for youth. They grow fresh produce for Food For Lane County and for a 90+ member Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program as well as two produce stands. One stand is located at Peace Health Hospital in Springfield.

More than 100,000 pounds of organic produce is grown each year. Each summer a crew of teens develops job skills while working at the farm and training in gardening, leadership, financial management and nutrition while growing food for Food For Lane County.

Speakers:

Jen Anonia, Garden Program Manager

Ted Purdy, Youth Farm Coordinator

Kiya Brown, Youth Farm Crew Leader
