City Selects Three Finalists For Eugene Police Chief

The City of Eugene has selected three finalists for its new Police Chief. Community members can meet the finalists at a forum in March.

The candidates are Mike Lester, who is currently assistant Police Chief in Vancouver, Washington. Bruce Marquis, a former Police Chief of Norfolk, Virginia, Hartford, Connecticut and the Houston, Texas Independent School District. And, Chris Skinner, currently Police Chief in Richland, Washington.
Eugene City Manager John Ruiz says he’s pleased with the caliber of candidates. The search process included input from the community and Police department in partnership with recruitment firm Strategic Government Resources.
The city received 33 applications for the police chief job. Pete Kerns retired from the position in December. David James is interim chief. The City will host a community forum on Tuesday March 13th for people to meet the finalists.
