A 65 year old holiday tradition is back on in Springfield. There was some confusion in the community as to whether the Christmas parade would even happen, after originally being cancelled in October.
Local citizens Monica Compton and Tonya Blakely are dedicated to saving the parade. Compton says despite misleading ads on Facebook and a notice on the old website announcing the cancelation, they want the community to know the Parade will go on.
“For some kids in the area, it will be the only Christmas they get. And also a lot of local businesses use the parade so that they can interact with the community. It meant a lot to me to make sure that still continued on.”
The parade is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon at 1 pm. It will run for two hours, with over 120 entrants.
