Eugene’s Matt Keating took the train across the country to attend the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
Keating says he’s excited to be there and feels great pride in the Oregon delegation.
Oregon House Speaker Tina Kotek will speak at the convention Monday. Keating says she’ll discuss Oregon’s progressive election process.
Keating: “Oregon’s vote-by mail system which really should be enacted in all 50 states. And our motor-voter, which has registered thousands of new voters automatically at the DMV. And I’m really excited to hear from Representative Kotek, Senator Merkley, First Lady Michelle Obama, and, of course, Senator Sanders tonight.”
Keating is a pledged Bernie Sanders delegate. But he says he’s committed to defeating Donald Trump and hopes the Democratic Party can come together. Keating is on the Lane Community College Board of Education.
