Eugenians Decry Anti-Semitic Graffiti At School, Stage Rallies

A $500 reward is being offered for tips on who’s responsible for anti-Semitic graffiti scrawled on the doors of North Eugene High School.  KLCC’s Brian Bull reports.

The swastikas and white supremacist messages were discovered – and removed – early September 15th.  4J board members and school administrators have denounced the vandalism, and North Eugene parents have been notified.

Studies by the City of Eugene and Southern Poverty Law Center say hate groups and racist activity have increased over the last year.

Josh Burstein is a member of Eugene’s Jewish community, with a child attending the school.

“As parents, we believe in being straightforward with our kids," Burstein says.  "They are cognizant of what is going on in the city and in the country.

"I have seen a lot of incidents against different targeted communities and I’ve seen a lot of people here in town respond very positively and with great support to those who have been targeted.”

There’s a Saturday rally at North Eugene High from noon to 2pm, organized by anti-hate activists.
