UPDATE 8/15/14: Festival Producer Krysta Albert told KLCC Friday afternoon that the meeting with public safety and city officials went well. Albert says they are all on board to expedite permits to hold the event at the west side of Skinner Butte Park.

Organizers of the Festival of Eugene are meeting with city officials Friday to work on solidifying the location and permits for the two-day event.
After several potential locations didn't pencil out, organizers announced that Skinner Butte Park will be home to the festival August 22 and 23. Producer Krysta Albert runs the annual Health and Wellness Celebration in downtown Eugene. She volunteered to help put on this festival, which came together after the announcement that the Eugene Celebration was taking a hiatus.
Albert: "I intended initially to just put together a small festival, celebrate the health and wellness group of vendors that I had. Only for me to get a bird in my ear so to speak that said, "Hey why don't we do a festival?" And I thought, okay, well let's just do a little festival, maybe one sound stage and a couple of bands, that'd be nice. And I had no idea that it would explode to a full-blown festival."
They've got a website, volunteers, money, sponsors and more. They just need final approval from officials with the city Parks Department, the Oregon Liquor Control Commission and public safety. They are all meeting Friday afternoon to hash out the details.
