Global Cyber-Security Firm Expands With New Eugene Office

May 23, 2018

Data hacks, compromised firewalls, and breaches in general have drawn headlines, and boosted the industry charged with safeguarding companies from these threats.  Now an expanding global cyber-security firm has opened an office in downtown Eugene.  KLCC’s Brian Bull reports.

SentinelOne’s clients are largely Fortune 500 companies including Hitachi Consulting and Monrovia, but they also service organizations such as the United States Holocaust Museum. Founded in Mountain View, California in 2013, SentinelOne had listed San Francisco as its only major offsite American office…that is, until now.

Nick Warner is the firm’s Chief Revenue Officer. He says the City of Eugene offered no economic incentives to lure them here. they came for something else.

“Really the talent…Symantec previously had a large support center here, and there were a number of folks who had industry and customer knowledge. That was a really nice resource to tap into. And then the proximity…proximity to Silicon Valley.”

SentinelOne says it’ll add 50 jobs to its “Silicon Shire” location, with plans to boost that to 100 by the end of 2019. It also plans to collaborate with Lane Community College, the University of Oregon, and Oregon State University on research and internship ventures.

"There have been 22 new tech companies start or expand to Lane County in just the past year," Matt Sayre of the Technology Association of Oregon writes KLCC in an email.

"This is continued validation that greater Eugene's tech industry has reached critical mass."
