Just in time for summer, when people want to go outside, grass pollen counts in the Willamette Valley are very high. That’s been hard on people with allergies.
Grass pollen is high when commercial grass fields are in bloom. How long will the high pollen counts last? Judy Moran is a Registered Nurse with Oak Street Medical in Eugene.
Moran: "The lay answer that people tend to remember is Memorial Day to Fourth of July. Now, our pollen seasons and our growing seasons vary by a week or two either way."
Moran says medication, sometimes in combination with eyedrops or nosespray can help alleviate allergic symptoms.
The current heat wave is adding to the problem. It brings higher concentrations of ozone which can affect people in poor health.
Oregon Allergy Associates posts pollen counts on it's website.
