A "Green" Alternative to Black Friday

MECCA – the Materials Exchange Center for Community Arts – will host its 6th annual Create Something Day this Friday in Eugene.

The free event is a time for families to come together and make gifts out of recycled materials. Heather Campbell, executive director of MECCA, says the event is a greener alternative to Black Friday.

Campbell; "It's just something that really ties into our mission. We want making and creativity and the arts to be accessible and affordable and so we always try to break down that barrier to participation."

MECCA staff will be there to guide crafters of all ages in projects including homemade ugly dolls, fabric scrap ornaments and snow globes. There is no fee for materials or entry. Create Something Day is from 12 pm to 4 pm this Friday. For more information, call 541-302-1810.
