Haven't flown Since Last Thanksgiving? Eugene Airport Has Some Suggestions

Eugene Airport

The Eugene Airport expects this week to be one of the busiest of the year. As many as 19,000 travelers may pass through over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Casey Boatman is the Airport Services Manager. He says this week there could be up to 850 more travelers per day than average—partly because carrier United Airlines is using larger jets.

Boatman says passengers can check in online, arrive early, and follow baggage guidelines to minimize delays.

Boatman: "A lot of times people during the holidays are the only times they fly, so they're not as experienced going through TSA and so on. That's why I recommend the TSA.gov website, it has lots of different travel tips."

Boatman says leave gifts unwrapped. Pies and cakes are allowed through the checkpoints, but they may have to go through additional screening.

And for the anxious traveler, Boatman says relax, plan ahead, and...

Boatman: "…then have a Bloody Mary when you get upstairs to your gate.”
