Health Officials Discuss Ebola Preparedness

CBS Local website.

Oregon health officials have plans for the possibility of an Ebola case in the state. They’re following CDC protocol. KLCC’s Corinne Boyer has more.

As the Ebola situation evolves, Lane County Health and Human Services has been participating in table top exercises to simulate what would happen if the disease came to the county. Spokesman Bradley Sheets says the risk of an Ebola case being found in Lane County is low.

“We have what we’ve seen is Dallas is a hub for international travel making it very easy for Ebola to travel there by plane. What we’ve found in Lane County is there’s no international flights coming directly to Lane County/Eugene Airport.”

Precautions are in place at Portland International Airport. Health officials are taking the best practices and applying them to Lane County.

The Oregon Association of Hospitals and Health Systems says medical facilities throughout the state are receiving hourly information regarding Ebola guidelines from experts.
