The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals will hear arguments next month (December 11th) in the Trump Administration’s attempt to halt a climate lawsuit brought by a group of young people.
21 young people are suing the federal government, claiming the U.S. violates their constitutional rights by not doing enough to prevent climate change.
Phillip Gregory is co-lead council on Juliana vs. United States.
“By bringing a petition for a writ of mandamus, the Trump Administration is seeking to keep us from putting the science in the courtroom and before the judge. And hoping that they can concoct a legal argument that will allow the Court of Appeals to prevent some or all of the trial.”
The trial is scheduled to begin in February in Eugene Federal Court. The Court of Appeals hearing is December 11th in San Francisco.
