Lane County Will Have to Conduct Recounts in Two Commissioner Races

Lane County Elections will have to conduct a recount in *two commissioner races. That's the latest from the Oregon Secretary of State who Tuesday said the East Lane County seat race was close enough to trigger an automatic recount. Now, it's been found the West Lane race also requires one.
Lane County spokeswoman Anne Marie Levis:

"The East Lane County was an obvious one and with the difference of votes in the West Lane County it was a little less obvious. But we did go back to the Secretary of State yesterday to say, it looks like this falls within your new guidance. They got back to us today and said, you're absolutely right, we need to do a recount on both races."

In the final election results, Jay Bozievich came within one-fifth of one percent from crossing the 50 percent plus one vote threshold required to avoid a runoff in November. He had 75 more votes than challenger Dawn Leslie. Levis says both recounts will begin early next week and cost the county about 2-thousand dollars each.
