Lane County says a tentative agreement has been reached with its largest employee union, AFSCME, after nearly 8 months of negotiations and a 7 day strike.

More than 500 AFSCME members are expected to return to work today (Wed.) As part of the agreement, the county will make a one-time payment of $100,000 so the union can "defray employee costs."

The 3-year deal also includes a 2% cost of living adjustment each year for all members and up to $50 per month from AFSCME members for family health insurance coverage. Lane County Commissioners and AFSCME leaders will vote to ratify the contract in the coming weeks.
