Man Charged With Murder And Arson In Deaths of Two Men In Creswell House Fire

Lane County Sheriff's Office

Murder charges have been filed against 42-year-old Eugene Whitehall, a transient, in the deaths of two men in Creswell.

Sgt. Carrie Carver with the Lane County Sheriff's Office says the charges come a day after two bodies were found in the rubble from a July 16 house fire in Creswell. The 2-story home was located on a pig farm. The victims were 65-year-old Dennis Kelley and 69-year-old Carl McFarland. Both men lived on the property.

Whitehall was booked into the Lane County Jail on charges of aggravated murder and arson.

Sheriff's Lieutenant Cliff Harrold says Whitehall had previously stayed at the home while working there. Harrold declined to say if investigators recovered any weapons that may have been used to kill the men before  fire destroyed the home with the victims  inside.
