Oregon Authorities Call For More Leads On Destruction Of Cape Kiwanda "Duckbill"

Oregon state police are renewing their call for tips surrounding the toppling of a large sandstone pedestal in Cape Kiwanda this summer.

Sergeant Kyle Hove  says while they’ve followed up on nearly 20 tips called in, they haven’t yet identified the suspects seen laughing and shoving the “duckbill” formation off its base in a passerby’s video shot late august.

“At this point, there’s no concrete evidence that leads us to a person or suspects," says Sgt. Hove.  "All information that has been released will be retained and still evaluated as we proceed."

People with leads can reach the Oregon State Police at (503)375-3555 or email them at osppio@state.or.us.  All calls are confidential.

Images of the sandstone structure -- before and after its destruction -- and a video of the toppling in progress can be seen here.
