The Oregon Country Fair Will Have More Space This Year

Rachael McDonald

The 46th Oregon Country Fair begins Friday in the woods outside Veneta, west of Eugene. This year, the fair has a little more space for the public to wander.

The original footprint of the Oregon Country Fair is what’s known as “the 8”, a figure-8 shaped path that meanders past the many stages, booths and gathering spaces that populate the annual event. The fair added Chela Mela meadow a little more than a decade ago. Now the there’s a new 6-acre loop. Fair General Manager Charlie Ruff:
Ruff: “We expect that this is going to ease some of the tighter spots were we occasionally experience congestion on the path. And it gives folks a place for respite. You know, when it’s just too intense inside the 8, they can come out here and relax. It’s great for folks with kids that just need to get out and run.”

The new area includes a dance pavilion, piano lounge and numerous art installations in the open, shady meadow. Ruff says ticket sales are good and he’s expecting a banner year for fair attendance.
Last year, about 46,000 people attended the Oregon Country Fair.

Lane Transit District provides free buses to the fair. More information on tickets and transportation at:
