Oregon Men's Golf Team Wins First NCAA Title In Eugene

goducks.com

The Ducks won the NCAA National Team Championship Wednesday at the Eugene Country Club.

Junior Sulman Raza drained the birdie putt on the 21st hole of his round against Texas Longhorn Taylor Funk. Raza helped put Oregon into the finals by sinking the winning putt against Illinois Tuesday. He’s a local. He graduated from South Eugene High School in 2012.

The Oregon men made the best of their home field advantage. Earlier this week sophomore Aaron Wise won the individual NCAA title. Not since 1945 has a home team won both the team and individual championship. This is Casey Martin’s 10th year as the University of Oregon men’s golf coach. He’s the only golfer to have won the national championships as a player and to go on to win as a coach.

Last week, the Oregon Women’s golf team made it to the semifinals.
