Oregon Upsets Stanford, Beavers Continue Losing Streak

goDucks.com

The University of Oregon Ducks kept their Pac-12 North Title hopes alive with a big upset win over 7th ranked Stanford 38 to 36 Saturday night in Palo Alto, California.

The Ducks have now won four in a row.

Quarterback Vernon Adams finished 10-of-12 for 205 yards with two touchdowns, and Running Back Royce Freeman rushed for 105 yards and a score. But it was Oregon's defense, which has looked rocky at times this year, which held the Cardinal on a crucial 2-point conversion late in the 4th quarter. Head Coach Mark Helfrich praised his players, coaches and scouting staff.

Helfrich: "That's huge when you play Stanford, there's a bunch of nuance stuff they do in every phase, and getting ready for that and making it as realistic as possible is a huge. And our players… Our team is getting better and better, and we just need that to show up on Saturdays every time."

Next week, the Ducks play USC in Autzen.

Oregon State's losing streak now stands at 7 after dropping one to the California Golden Bears 54 to 24. Redshirt freshman quarterback Nick Mitchell threw for two touchdowns and ran in another for the Beavers before getting knocked out of the game late in the third quarter.
