Pasco music teacher Andreanna Flores knocks on doors the day before her union reached a tentative contract agreement with the Pasco School District.

It’s been a week since teachers in Pasco walked off the picket line and back into the classroom. But Tuesday night the Pasco School Board backed off its plans to ratify a new contract with the local teachers union.

Leaders from the Pasco Association of Educators said they found discrepancies between the agreement approved by their members and the language that the school board had planned to put to a vote. But that feedback didn’t come in time.

Until the issue is resolved, the district says Pasco teachers will have to work under the terms of their old contract.

Union members took to social media to vent their frustration. Teachers were encouraged to wear red shirts Wednesday as they did throughout their two-week strike.
