Public Health Advisory Issued For Pesticide-Tainted Pot

Rachael McDonald

The Oregon Health Authority has issued a public health advisory about pesticide-tainted marijuana that was sold at dispensaries in Eugene, North Bend, and Salem. They’re asking customers to return or dispose of the affected products.

Oregon Medical Marijuana officials say Flowr of Lyfe in Eugene, Stonies in Salem, and Green Way Medicinal in North Bend sold three different strains that were tainted with pesticide above what OHA calls “action level”. They were purchased last month under the names Dutch Treat, Pleeze, and Dryzl. OHA Spokesman Jonathan Modie:
Modie: “Unfortunately these pesticides are being detected at levels that we’re not comfortable with the public having access to or being exposed to. We are working with growers, and dispensaries and processors to educate them about testing rules.”
Modie says dispensaries need to hold products that have failed pesticide testing and insure they don’t get sold to customers. Growers are required to have all their marijuana products tested for impurities, including pesticides. OHA officials are investigating why the tainted batches were sold to the public.
