Sacred Heart Plans Construction Of Guest House For Patient Families

PeaceHealth

PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center is poised to break ground on a new guest house. It will offer lodging to those with loved ones in hospital.

Heartfelt Guest House will be constructed just two blocks from the main entrance of PeaceHealth RiverBend in Springfield.  The hospital is partnering with Ronald McDonald House charities to operate the 20-room space.

Jeff Larson, is Chief Development Officer for the medical center.

“Somebody lives in Gold Beach and they have a baby that’s premature and that baby needs to be brought to our neonatal intensive care unit,” Larson says. “The baby comes and the whole family comes too. When they get here they don’t always have places to stay. And in the case like a neo-natal intensive care unit infant, they could be here for 3 months. So this gives families a place to stay right on campus.”

Larson says fundraising for the guest house continues. They are half way to the goal of $8 million dollars.

The guest house will be built near RiverBend and is expected to serve 1,500 patient family members each year.
