Safety Event Will Discuss Marijuana In The Workplace

www.osha.gov

Oregon employers have a new thing to consider when it comes to workplace safety - legal marijuana. The State's Department of Consumer and Business Services or OSHA hosts a two day workplace safety event in Eugene Tuesday. It will include topics such as violence or harassment, injury, and health standards. But marijuana is new to the agenda. Voters approved the use of recreational pot in 2014. Aaron Corvin is a spokesman for OSHA.

Corvin: "In fact, we'll be open to looking at companies' current policies they're being encouraged to bring copies of their current policies. So it's a very practical session aimed at improving their situation with respect to this new change."

Corvin says Oregon can look to Colorado and Washington's marijuana policies. He says Oregon OSHA is the top enforcer of workplace safety standards in the country.

The conference is at Valley River Inn. Registration is $175, or 95$ for single-day attendence.
