Superintendent Sheldon Berman is recommending the 4J School Board select The City of Eugene's offer of 4.5 million dollars to purchase the Civic Stadium Properties.
Berman acknowledged the district is currently strained financially. He said there were three main reasons he came to his decision.
Berman: "One that it's the shortest avenue to us securing resources. And given the district's circumstances, we believe that that's critical. The second is that it has the fewest obstacles to doing that. And really the third is our partnership with the City, and maintaining this as a site for the community."
Berman recommends a deed restriction, requiring the City to pay 4J a portion of any proceeds it would gain if it they decided to sell it for a larger price. The 4J School Board will be discussing the sale of Civic Stadium at their next meeting this Wednesday. They will make their final decision on February 19th.
