Second Annual "Hack for a Cause" April 7th-9th

Hundreds of Eugene residents will be working through the night this weekend to solve every day problems using computer programming.

The second annual “Hack for a Cause” is organized by the Technology Association of Oregon. Events coordinator Allison Weatherly says participants will develop programs to fix problems specific to the Eugene area.
“This year we had 30 submissions of challenges and accepted eight of them,” says Weatherly. “They are incredible ideas that support nonprofit organizations here locally or even some were submitted by community members who are trying to improve our community.”
Some of this year’s challenges include creating technology to help foster children find forever homes, and an app to rescue victims of human trafficking. The event is open to more than just computer programmers. Participants in fields such as business and design are expected to attend as well. KLCC is a sponsor of “Hack for a Cause.”
