Oregon's unemployment rate remained flat in June, at 6.8 percent.
The state Employment Departmentsays the construction sector was hiring at record levels earlier this year but didn't hire as many workers last month.
Employment economist Nick Beleiciks says other industries saw gains, including private educational services and health care and social assistance.
Beleiciks: "We're seeing a lot of job growth now, in general. And we're also seeing more people joining the labor force. So as people get more encouraged about their job prospects they enter the labor force, they may not get a job right away but it helps keep the unemployment rate a little bit higher."
The state's unemployment rate has lingered between 6.8 and 7 percent for the last 6 months. Oregon has added nearly 40 thousand jobs over the past year.
