Updated Primary Results Released

Friday, Lane County released updated results for Tuesday’s primary election.

The numbers show incumbent Jay Bozievich ahead of Dawn Lesley by just 85 votes for the West Lane County Commissioner position.

For East Lane County, incumbent Faye Stewart has just over half the votes with 50.1 percent. His closest challenger, Kevin Matthews has about 35 percent.

The Pleasant Hill school bond appears to be passing by 14 votes in favor.

The last ballots left to count are those with signatures that need to be verified, or need to be signed. The ballots that the tabulator could not read and those that were turned in in other counties have now been counted.

In a statement released Friday, Dawn Lesley says, "While the updated results are not what we wished to see, there are ballots that remain to be counted, those identified by the Elections Office as "challenged ballots"... This race remains close and we are a handful of votes away from a runoff election in November."

The election results have to be certified by June 9.
