Valley Snow Will Give Way To Weekend Rain

Rachael McDonald

One to 3 inches of snow fell Thursday morning in the South Willamette Valley. Many local schools were closed or delayed due to the road conditions.

Thursday night’s temperatures are forecast to drop to around 20. The morning commute may be treacherous Friday. David Bishop is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Portland.

He advises people to note where there are still patches of snow on their streets because that could turn to ice.

“There is a chance that some of the areas might see a refreeze, especially if there’s a partial or a limited melt.”

Bishop says there’s a 30 percent chance of more snow showers Friday but that will turn to rain through the weekend with overnight lows in the 30s.
