Congressman Walden scheduled the meeting in Bend after getting some heat for NOT hosting a town hall here since 2013. Bend is a blue island of Democratic majority in a sea of Walden’s mostly red district. One person asked why Walden didn’t join the call for Trump to release his tax returns.

Walden: “Every one of us has the right to protect our tax returns” (BOO)

Health care and the environment came up often. The crowd booed and guffawed loudly when Walden talked about the repeal of the Affordable Care Act. But they also cheered and clapped when he said climate change is not a hoax.

The Congressman said he’d rather face that kind of energetic crowd than have people quote “sit on their butts at home.”
