Board Chair Faye Stewart praised the work done by county public works staff dealing with winter weather in his state of Lane County address Monday.
For weeks, county road workers have been coping with damage from last month’s ice storm then the region was hit with more winter weather this weekend. But, Stewart described 2016 as one of the best in recent years for Lane County government. He says the board of commissioners and staff are working well together.
Stewart: I’m confident that as things come forward, you know, there’s always hiccups, there’s always challenges, that we’re standing strong and we’re going to address those and we’re going to do the best that we can to help our citizens and to create the best county to live in that we possibly can.”
At the state of the county event, Pete Sorenson was sworn in for his 6th term on the board. He announced he will not be running again in 2020. He’s the longest serving Lane county Commissioner in history.
