Wyden and Blumenauer Back Bill To Increase Access To Outdoors

Senator Ron Wyden

A new bill introduced Thursday by Oregon U.S. Senator Ron Wyden and Congressman Earl Blumenauer aims to improve access to the outdoors. The federal bill is called “Recreation Not Red Tape Act.”

Senator Wyden went on a listening tour last summer to find out how Oregonians interact with the outdoor environment. He says he found that government regulations can make it difficult to access public lands. Wyden says his bill will change that.
Wyden: “And clears the path for first time visitors, fresh economic opportunity and new jobs in rural communities.”
The bill would expedite recreation permitting and increase access for veterans, seniors and youth.
