Cooler weather and rainfall are helping out crews battling the region’s wildfires.

U.S. Army soldiers from Joint Base Lewis-McChord (in Washington State) are helping fight fires in southern Oregon. 200 soldiers have been deployed to the Umpqua North Complex of Fires, which has burned nearly 40-thousand acres east of Roseburg.

50 miles east of Roseburg, the Umpqua North Complex has burned about 21,000 acres.  It’s a large and difficult series of fires for crews to battle.
