Kombucha businesses have been popping up around Oregon and flourishing in Portland, Bend and Eugene. This ancient fermented drink is earning new fans as it gains popularity in a state well-known for its breweries. The sales numbers show that more people are drinking kombucha, but there are many people who still don’t know what the drink is.

Hop Valley Expands Into Washington And Idaho

Hop Valley Brewing is expanding into Washington and Idaho later this month. A new distribution partnership is making it possible to supply these states with the Eugene business' beer.

Hop Valley is adding four new beer tanks ranging in size from 4,000 to 6,000 gallons to its Whiteaker facility. In October, additional 12,000 gallon tanks will arrive. Jonas Kungys, a Hop Valley owner says the tanks are needed to meet demands in the Northwest.

It’s beer week here at KLCC, a time when Oregon brewing and beer culture come into focus.

Clever beer names are abundant in the industry.  Some breweries take things a step further, using religiously insensitive or sexualized names.  For example, Polygamy Porter from Utah or “La Tite Pute” or "The Little Slut" from Quebec.
