Members of a new national coalition say there's a link between start-up companies and the outdoors. And they are encouraging the federal government to expand national parks and monuments to accommodate the trend in the rising workforce. Oregon Wild

The recent discovery of Oregon's wandering wolf, known as OR-7, and his new pups is one reason a conservation group filed a lawsuit against a logging project near Crater Lake National Forest. Oregon Wild filed the lawsuit against the U.S. Forest Service in District Court in Medford Wednesday.

O&C forestlands make up only about 13 percent of all federal forestlands in Oregon and about 8 percent of all Oregon forestlands. The O&C forestlands are interspersed checkerboard fashion among parcels of privately owned forestlands. Under these circumstances, does it really matter whether some of the O&C lands are opened to industrial harvesting of timber?

In the City Club’s final program on the O&C issues, Greg Haller and Ernie Niemi will present their perspectives on the issues involved.
