Earl Thomas brings The Blues Cabaret to the Majestic Theatre in Corvallis on Friday evening.

Benton County is unsure how to manage an 18 mile railroad corridor it purchased late last year. The County is seeking public comment on the best use of land that extends from Monroe to just south of Corvallis.

Oregon State Police

A Benton County Sheriff's Office deputy found a vehicle Thursday morning down an embankment off Highway 34 belonging to an elderly Waldport man reported missing the day before to Lincoln County Sheriff's Office. The man was rescued from his vehicle northeast of Alsea and taken to a Corvallis hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Oregon State Police is investigating the crash and the man's family was notified that he was found safe.

A live in-studio performance at KLCC from Absolute Harmony, a five-piece all-women a cappella ensemble from Corvallis. They perform an original song, then cover Steve Martin, and talk with Eric Alan about being inspired by everything from South African freedom songs to their children.

The federal Land and Water Conservation Fund has been distributing money to the states for 50 years. Last week, Governor Kitzhaber announced Oregon's 2014 allocation.

Oregon will receive over 650 thousand dollars this year, to be used to acquire land and develop outdoor recreation areas. The amount is on par with funding over the past few years. Chris Havel is with the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. He says the Land and Water Conservation Fund has been remarkably long-lived, supporting thousands of projects over the years.

Both Oregon and Oregon State’s baseball teams played in NCAA Regional tournaments this weekend.  
 

Because of Oregon State’s number 1 rank, the team hosted their post season regional.  But the home crowd couldn’t deliver a perfect weekend for the Beavs.  OSU won their opening game against North Dakota State, but then dropped their second to UC Irvine.  The Beavers came back and won their next two games against UNLV and UC Irvine.  

OSU’s Jeff Hendrix, a Corvallis native, went 4 for 4 in Sunday’s win.   

Salem Still Tops Eugene as Oregon's "Second City"

According to census estimates released last week for cities of 50 thousand or more,  Salem has once again nosed out Eugene as the state’s second largest city.  As of July 2013,  Eugene’ s population was about 159 thousand, while Salem topped  160, 000.

Portland remains Oregon’s largest city by a factor of four.  Bend was the clear state leader in percent of population growth last year at two-point-nine.  Eugene, Springfield, Salem and Corvallis all saw small population gains, with none registering as much as one percent.

Grammy-winning trumpeter Chris Botti returns to the Willamette Valley with a performance at the Hult Center in Eugene on May 1st, not far from where he grew up in Corvallis. He speaks with Eric Alan about collaborating with Mark Knopfler and Frank Sinatra, and how growing up in Corvallis helped him as a young player.

The #1 ranked Oregon Ducks softball team completed their Civil War series with Oregon State Monday with a sweep.

In the final game in Corvallis, the Ducks crushed the Beavers 18-0, after winning games on Saturday and Sunday.

Over the course of the three-game series, Oregon outscored OSU 38 to 7.  The Ducks should stay at #1 in this week's national rankings.
