President Barack Obama landed in Roseburg, Oregon this Friday afternoon to meet with families of the victims of last weeks shooting at Umpqua Community College.  Rachael McDonald is traveling with the White House Press Pool.

The 19 year-old who suffered a gunshot wound to the head in the shooting at Umpqua Community College last week is breathing on her own. Doctors spoke with reporters Thursday at PeaceHealth Medical Center in Springfield.

The campus of Southern Oregon University in Ashland is closed Wednesday after a threatening note was found in a building on campus Tuesday evening.

Two of the four Eugene boys charged with setting the fire that destroyed Civic Stadium made admissions to a judge today (Tuesday) in Lane County Juvenile Court. These two youth are also charged with arson for a dumpster fire outside a convenience store. KLCC's Tiffany Eckert was in the courtroom and has this report.

The White House says President Obama will travel to Roseburg on Friday to meet privately with the families of people who died in last week’s shooting.

The politics surrounding gun violence began almost immediately after the tragedy at Umpqua Community College where 10 died and another nine were injured.

The Lane County District Attorney has found sheriff's deputies were justified in their use of deadly force in an incident last month that resulted in a suspect and deputy being shot and wounded.

The college campus reopens in Roseburg where nine people were killed Thursday under attack by a gunman. The school has been closed since then. Salem Correspondent Chris Lehman was there Monday morning.

Authorities say the shooting who killed 9 people Thursday at Umpqua Community College committed suicide.  

The Douglas County Sheriff says police arrived at the scene 6 minutes after the first 9-1-1 call and exchanged gunfire with the shooter 2 minutes later. The medical examiner determined the shooter killed himself. Fire Chief Greg Marlar says two of the 9 killed were related to first responders.

Authorities are asking the public for tips on the Umpqua Community College shooting. They want photos, videos and anything that could add to the investigation.

Three women who were wounded in the shooting Thursday at Umpqua Community College were transported via helicopter to Peace Health Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield.
Trauma surgeon Dr. Scott Russi says all three women are stable. Two are considered critical. Russi is optimistic about their recovery. He has worked as a combat surgeon in Iraq and Afghanistan.

There's still no known motive for the gunman who opened fire at a community college Thursday in southern Oregon. The city of Roseburg was rocked by news that ten people died in a shooting at nearby Umpqua  Community College.

Governor Kate Brown Heads to Roseburg

Oregon Governor Kate Brown headed for Roseburg this afternoon (Thursday) to help the community. She addressed reporters earlier today.

Brown: "Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. We are holding the community of Douglas County in our hearts today. The work that first responders have done is harrowing. To our first responders: Thank you for your work, as this community reels from grief."

President Obama has also been briefed on the shooting.

The Lane County Sheriff's Office confirmed Monday that Deputy Todd Olson was shot and wounded Friday near Cottage Grove. The incident happened when four Deputies were responding to a shots fired call.

The 4-year-old's mother, Dana Morgan, contacted police after her cell phone notified her about the Amber Alert for her son Sunday morning. Eugene Police made contact with Morgan and returned the child, Lucien Triplett, to his father.

Two of the four boys charged with setting the fire that destroyed Eugene's Civic Stadium in June are suspected in at least one other arson involving a dumpster.

A Sisters woman has been fined $140,000 and faces additional charges for misleading at least a dozen people to invest $700,000 in her business. Rebecca Castle, also known as Rebecca Groins allegedly spent investor's money on jewelry, spa services, and made purchases for her children and boyfriend. The Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services claims the business she was representing either did not exist or was financially unsuccessful. Jake Sunderland is a spokesman for the OCBS.
