  Live music, abstract art and improvisational dance will merge into one art form at the Jazz Station in Eugene on Thursday, November 10th. “Sound In-Sight” will feature Torrey Newhart’s Obsidian Animals performing while Bob Newhart paints alongside dancers and a poet. Eric Alan speaks with Torrey Newhart about the impact of live multi-media collaboration.  

(sub)Urban Projections is a two-day digital art and media festival at the Hult Center on April 2nd and 3rd, including a free multi-media event Thursday evening in the lobby, and the world premiere of Quixotic: Gravity of Center in the Silva Concert Hall on Friday. Composer Jeremy Schropp and choreographer Brad Garner of Harmonic Laboratory speak with Eric Alan about the cutting-edge creative festival. 

The Eugene Ballet Company is collaborating with the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies for Zoot Suit Riot at the Hult Center in Eugene on Saturday, April 12th and Sunday, April 13th. The performances will also include a tribute piece called “Silk and Steel,” by Toni Pimble, the Eugene Ballet Company’s Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer. She and Steve Perry, vocalist and guitarist of the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies, talk with Eric Alan about the unusual collaboration.
