4J, YMCA Reach Tentative Agreement On Roosevelt Land

The Eugene 4J School District and the YMCA appear to have found common ground this week in efforts to relocate the recreational facility. They’ve agreed to tentative terms for the “Y” to purchase land at 24th and Hilyard.

The proposal would give the Eugene Family YMCA the option to purchase the Roosevelt Middle School property for 2.85 million dollars. That’s nearly double the Y’s September offer of 1.5 million. Dave Perez, the YMCA’s Executive Director, says he’s confident the nonprofit will be able to raise the money:

Eugene YMCA Looks to Expand to Bethel

The Eugene YMCA is planning to expand. The idea is to have two YMCA facilities-- a new larger property at the current Roosevelt Middle School in South Eugene, and another in Bethel. KLCC's Tiffany Eckert gets an update on the Y's expansion plans from Executive Director Dave Perez.

4J Moves Ahead With Local Option Levy Renewal, Roosevelt Middle Land Sale Process

Residents of the Eugene 4J School District will decide this November whether to continue tax support for local schools.  Wednesday night, the School Board voted to put a local option levy on the ballot that would fund the district to the tune of $8 million per year.

    

Board member Jim Torrey said the district was already stretched, and losing the funds would have major consequences.
