Portland songwriter Casey Neill has brought his socially conscious and eclectic music to the world for twenty years now, and his current band the Norway Rats are touring behind their most recent CD All You Pretty Vandals, produced by Chris Funk of the Decemberists. Before bringing a full-band show to the Axe and Fiddle tonight in Cottage Grove on Friday, May 22nd, they visited the KLCC studios for songs and conversation.

The band Black Prairie began as a spin-off from the Decemberists, but has developed an equal life of its own. The band’s sound has moved from instrumental string-band roots into edgier rock territory and vocals in recent times, especially on their fourth and newest CD, Fortune.

Portland songwriter Ashleigh Flynn returns to her former home of Eugene for a house concert on Friday evening, June 27th, as well as performing in Bend at McMenamins on Wednesday, July 2nd and at Planktown in Springfield on Thursday, July 3rd, with her band the Back Porch Majority. Her most recent CD is called A Million Stars, produced by Chris Funk from the Decemberists. The album’s songs primarily involve female Wild West characters. She joined Eric Alan in the KLCC studios for songs and conversation.
