Eric John Kaiser plays a style of music he calls Parisian Americana, reflecting his French origins and his current Portland residence. He’s touring behind a new CD of songs called Idaho, inspired by his American travels.  Before performing an album release concert at Sylvan Ridge Winery in Eugene on October 30th, he joined us live in the KLCC studios.

Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl Returns To U.S.

A soldier believed to be the only remaining prisoner of the Afghan war is on his way home.

U.S. officials Saturday morning said Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl was released to special operations forces by a Taliban group in eastern Afghanistan near the Pakistani border.

Boise State Public Radio’s Emilie Ritter Saunders reports Bergdahl was captured in 2009.

Idaho native Bowe Bergdahl has spent most of his 20s held captive by Afghan militants.

Now at 28 years old, Bergdahl is being freed one month shy of the fifth anniversary of his capture.

City of Florence Interviewing Six Finalists for Chief of Police

The City of Florence is looking for a new chief of police. One of the finalists is Lane County Sheriff Tom Turner.

The Interim Chief of Police in Florence is Lynn Lamm who was appointed after Ray Gutierrez retired. The chief oversees 22 employees, including 9 officers.

Daredevils Woo Twin Falls To Recreate Evel Knievel Canyon Jump

A passel of daredevils aim to succeed where the king of stunt performers once famously failed. They want to attempt Evel Knievel's jump over the Snake River Canyon. But first, one of the modern stuntmen has to secure the rights to both a launch and a landing spot on opposite sides of the canyon near Twin Falls, Idaho. That has the potential for another wreck in the making... a bureaucratic one.
