Incumbents Hold Onto Their Seats On Lane County Board of Commissioners

Jay Bozievich and Faye Stewart were not defeated by opponents in the May Primary. They were elected to another 4-year term on the Lane County Board of Commissioners, according to final election results released Friday.

Bozievich beat Dawn Lesley by 75 votes in the West Lane race, so there won't be a run-off in November.

Stewart won the East Lane race over four opponents, avoiding a runoff against top challenger Kevin Matthews by just seven votes.

Updated Primary Results Released

Friday, Lane County released updated results for Tuesday’s primary election.

The numbers show incumbent Jay Bozievich ahead of Dawn Lesley by just 85 votes for the West Lane County Commissioner position.

For East Lane County, incumbent Faye Stewart has just over half the votes with 50.1 percent. His closest challenger, Kevin Matthews has about 35 percent.

The Pleasant Hill school bond appears to be passing by 14 votes in favor.

Too Close To Call For Lesley/Bozievich Race For West Lane County Commissioner

It's still too close to call in the race for West Lane County Commissioner. The latest results have incumbent Jay Bozevich ahead of challenger Dawn Lesley by just 45 votes.  At this point Bozievich has 50.04 percent of votes cast.

Incumbent Faye Stewart seems to be holding onto his East Lane County Commissioner seat. He's ahead of challenger Kevin Matthews with 50.25 percent of votes.

Candidates Rely On Ground Game in Commission Race

Making an impression on voters one-at-a-time could make a big difference in the contest for West Lane County Commissioner this month. Conservative commissioner Jay Bozievich is being challenged by moderate candidate Dawn Lesley. Both are relying on the "ground-game" to reach voters.

Bozievich: "Hello. I'm Jay Bozievich. I'm your County Commissioner and I'm running for re-election. I'm coming around asking people for their support for May 20th."

Lesley: "Hi. Are you Nancy?" I'm Dawn Lesley and this is my son Clayton and I'm running for County Commissioner."

The nonpartisan West Lane County Commissioner represents the western portion of the county from West Eugene north to Junction City and west to the coast. New Call Center Hiring In Veneta

A three-year collaboration between state, county, and local groups has come to fruition in Veneta. First Call Resolution, a growing Oregon-based company, has moved into its new space and is now hiring.

"First call resolution" refers to the company's goal of solving a customer's question within one phone call. Today, the call center received two 50-thousand dollar business development checks, one from the state and one from Lane County.

This is the company's fifth center. President John Stadter says all the locations are in small Oregon communities:

Two Lane County Incumbents Will Run Again in 2014

Filing opened earlier in September for candidates hoping to run for local office.  There was a smattering of activity, but the only incumbent to declare candidacy early on was Lane County Commissioner Faye Stewart.

Now two more incumbents have made it official.

Eugene City Councilor George Poling says he will run for a fourth term.  Poling represents Ward 4 – northeast Eugene – and currently serves on the LTD–EMX Steering committee and the Travel Lane County Committee.
